"Every person wants to feel happy. But often people feel they are caught in a storm, tossed about by forces beyond their control. I will help you gain insight into the forces affecting you, help you grow emotionally and help you make decisions that will lead to a happier, healthier life.
I will treat you with respect, compassion and honesty. I will listen, engage and help you develop a framework to think about your life in a way that will help you cope with adversity and achieve your goals. I will give you objective and empathetic feedback. Together, we will find a way to help you discover inner peace, strength and happiness."
In 2005, Kathy received a Master of Science (MS) in Counseling and Psychology from Troy State University. She interned at West Florida Community Care Center where she provided counseling for inpatient clients, most of whom were court ordered into the hospital. She also led a group for people with depression and bipolar disorder. Kathy has been working for Southwest Behavioral Health for the last 4 years, where she has worked with clients with depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, bipolar disorder and other serious mental illness. She recently joined Deer Valley Counseling in 2010. She is passionate about helping people to find their own power and move forward in their lives.
